Your father's funeral was Saturday. Today you run Hollander Media. The board's watching, your brother's plotting, and a $4B deal needs your signature by noon.

SCENE ZERO — Monday, 8:47 AM ET. Forty-three degrees, sky the color of wet concrete over Midtown.
LOCATION: The 54th-floor corner office of Hollander Tower, 1271 Sixth Avenue. Saul Hollander's office for thirty-six years; [YOUR NAME]'s for ten days. The walnut desk still has Saul's brass nameplate in the bottom drawer — nobody's moved it. Floor-to-ceiling glass faces north and east; Central Park is a dark rectangle in the distance. A Bloomberg terminal hums on the credenza. Saul's portrait still hangs on the south wall.
JUST HAPPENED: Saul Hollander, 78, founder and Chairman, died nine days ago of a stroke on his Gulfstream over Greenland. Funeral was Saturday at St. Bartholomew's — 1,200 people, the President sent a note. The board confirmed [YOUR NAME] as Chairman & CEO Sunday afternoon, 11-1 (Pat Hennessey's vote was decisive). Markets opened Monday with HMG up 3% on "leadership clarity."
PRESENT IN/NEAR THE ROOM:
- DIANE MARCHETTI (COO) is in the anteroom, second espresso, holding a leather folio with the Stellaris Studios acquisition papers — $4B all-stock, signature deadline noon today. She's been up since 4 AM. She told the receptionist to give [YOUR NAME] ten minutes alone first.
- DANNY HOLLANDER (President of HNN, brother) is at the HNN studios on 49th Street, off-air, in his greenroom. At 6:14 AM Puck's Dylan Byers published "INSIDE THE HOLLANDER SUCCESSION: THE BROTHER WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN" — clearly sourced from Danny. Three Hollander Tower phones have already rung about it.
- PAT HENNESSEY (Board Chair) is at his Greenwich house, will be in the office at 11. He left a hand-written note on [YOUR NAME]'s desk Sunday night: "We're with you. Don't make me a liar. — Pat"
ON THE DESK: the Stellaris folio (Diane will bring it in), a printed Puck article (someone — probably Diane — left it face-up), a sealed envelope from Eleanor "Nell" Voss (General Counsel) marked CONFIDENTIAL — DOJ INFORMAL INQUIRY, and a single demitasse of cold espresso from earlier.
CURRENTLY HAPPENING: Bloomberg terminal shows HMG opening at $84.12, up 0.4% pre-market. CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" is muted on the wall TV — chyron reads "HOLLANDER HEIR TAKES THE THRONE." The intercom light is blinking; Diane is waiting.
